Kristen + Michael's Clemmons North Carolina Wedding
Getting to know clients, over the course of an engagement and through a wedding day most certainly creates a bond unlike any I have experienced. There is a story with each wedding and it starts with the couple, but by the end, it is intertwined with the family that supports them, the friends that celebrate along their side, the details of the wedding day and so much more. There is no combination alike. This is what makes every wedding so unique + heartfelt and my heart always bursts at the seams. As I met Kristen, and eventually Michael (see engagement session here) I quickly came to realize how much they really were meant to be together. On the wedding day, after meeting their parents, they both come from families that have extremely strong family ties and a respectable knowledge and belief in the church. The pastor, for example, is the same one that had married the grooms parents, uncle and brother before their day. I know that with this foundation, K+M will be successful in their growth as individuals and in their marriage.
Kristen is one of the sweetest. From the moment I spoke with her and time after time we met, I came to love the little smile she always brought along. And Michael...well, lets just say he swoons over this girl. Kristen had wrote letters to Michael from the day she realized she loved him and secretly kept them as they accumulated. On the wedding day, she gave him a journal full of each love note, that expressed her feelings as she {they} grew into the love that lead them to this beautiful day. I was amazed at just how much love they had between them.
My favorite moment with them: As I was explaining to Kristen a nearby house would be a great shooting location (an old + abandoned casa on a hilltop across the street from the venue) she looked at me with confusion. As we walked to the location together, she began to explain to me that this was "her" house as a little girl. Apparently as she would ride by this house growing up, she always told her mother it was her house and she would live there one day. With excitement, I too had always noticed the house and admired its charm and nostalga. She then explained to me that they had just tore it down. I looked up and saw for myself, it was no longer there. Sad moment indeed, but we improvised. We took the photos of the new Mr. + Mrs. on the ground where the house had been. I explained that their presences and this moment represented the new opportunities that were to come there where we stood. The memory of the past would always be there, but now we have made new ones here. And she was right. It was her house. Not in the sense of the house that once stood there, but the foundation of all that love can be and all that is to come will have all the potential to grow and be a grand mansion. The grandest of them all. And it was always meant to be.
