Winston Salem NC Editorial Photographer [Christianity Today]

I had gotten a call from the editor at Christianity Today to shoot a photo for an upcoming article on a subject in Eden, NC. It was described as somewhat controversial and a sensitive subject for not only readers but this lady Teresa, who lived the story. Often when I get an assignment, there is some level of excitement and anxiety about who and what is involved. I had to trust that, for there to be a story worth telling, someone amazing had to be on the other end of it. My intuition was right. The moment Teresa opened her door to welcome me in, we immediately connected. We spent 3 hours together, and out of all that time, we may have shot 30 minutes worth of photographs. We talked about everything under the sun; her past and present, what she does for a living, my life, kids, past. It was so therapeutic, peaceful and felt like I was talking to a friend I have known for years. I find often, the things that cross our paths are the things we need most. It was no mistake that I was assigned to Teresa's story. I am extremely thankful to have been apart of this article and meet the amazing Teresa Lea. A woman of grace, strength and beautiful insight despite her past who is now a dear, dear acquaintance, colleague and friend.
